Let’s talk sustainable home decor!
The last two years have forced people to look at design differently. The focus shifted to reusing and repurposing things like furniture and accessories, and that trend will likely continue in the future. Many people now care about longevity, as they invest in higher quality pieces that may cost more, but will last longer.
Along with that, there’s a surge in thrifting! Especially for those that don’t want to, or cannot afford to break the bank to do up their homes. We can’t deny that there’s something extra special about finding a quirky, unique item in a thrift store – we love decor with a soul.
But where do you go for inspiration when it comes to sustainable home decor? We have the answer (or ANSWERS!) to that question. Here’s a list of our absolute favorite sustainable home decor websites.
1. The Citizenry
This curated collection of wonder sells ‘home goods with a soul and a story’. We’re in love! They believe that decor and home goods are “only as beautiful as the environment in which they’re made.” You can be assured that everything on here is made start-to-finish with fair trade standards.
Shop according to category, country, and you can even meet the makers of these fine goods (virtually of course!)

2. Made Trade
Ethical. Sustainable. Beautiful.
Isn’t that what we want from our homes too?
Made Trade prioritizes beautifully designed, ethically-made, and sustainably sourced goods that put people and our planet first. You can find everything from clothing, shoes and accessories, home goods, and even furniture on their crisp, clean website.
EcoCult (one of our favorite sustainable blog sites) called it an ethical and authentic equivalent to Anthropologie, and we love that description.
This women-run, family-owned company stands by the belief that we can make the world a more beautiful place by holding ourselves to a higher ethical standard. We love their commitment and effort to create a truly fulfilling shopping experience.

3. Etsy
There’s little to say about Etsy that hasn’t already been said – we love Etsy. It’s the best place to make your whole life more beautiful!
What’s even better is that you can buy handmade, vintage items that are made by local artisans, home-grown businesses, and people that are committed to the craft. We love their take on sustainability by empowering local manufacturing. Supporting local creators helps build a more ethical, beautiful home.
You’re guaranteed to find everything from custom-made furniture, clothing, home decor, wedding decor, and more.

4. The Little Market
Founded by women, to empower women. The Little Market is the best destination for all things hand-crafted! They work with artisans around the world to bring you only the most unique, and creative home goods.
We’d recommend their handwoven baskets, sugar scrubs, beautiful candles, and their gorgeous kitchen linens.
Side note – We really love their unique storage solutions!

5. Interior Wanderer
That’s it – color us OBSESSED! We can’t get over these curated kits that will transform any space you choose! Interior Wanderer has customized a pre-set kit that comprises rugs, decor items, cushions, textiles, artwork, and other perfectly complementary accents.
You can pick a kit for your living room, office, bedrooms, and bathrooms. They’re absolutely stunning. Don’t believe us? See for yourself!

6. Prosperity Candles
According to their website, “Behind every candle we pour is a resilient woman and her journey toward a brighter future. Whether fleeing persecution, a war widow, or a mother escaping poverty, her strength and perseverance have led her to Prosperity Candle. She is rebuilding her life one candle at a time.” We are beyond inspired.
Not only are candles the perfect accent for a room, but we love that each flame comes with a beautiful story that lights up our eyes.
You can also send a message to the woman that made the candle you choose. We love when a marketplace is more than a place where goods are exchanged, lives are exchanged too!

7. Bloomscape
Plants aren’t just trendy NOW. They’ve always been a part of home decor, and now they’re getting the attention they deserve. After all, what better way to scream ‘green’ than a bunch of leaves in your living space?
Their website says they come from five generations of greenhouse growers and floral industry innovators, and that their roots go all the way back to ancestors who were pioneers in the Netherlands’ horticulture industry. In short, you’ll find the best cared for plants when you buy from the experts.

A note about Dooeys:
Dooeys provide the coziness of a slipper with all-day comfort thanks to their arch support and sneaker-like soles. Dooeys house shoes for women are made from premium, sustainable materials – our vegan apple leather is sourced from organic, post-processed apple skins and cores used in the juice industry. Instead of the traditional sole, we use sugarcane EVA that has the same softness and flexibility as foam used in sneakers with a much lower carbon footprint. Our shoes come with a high-quality lining made of recycled polyester and plastic bottles in an efficient, zero-waste system.
